2 New ones:

  • Italian State understanding for governmental applications of our technologies.
We had the pleasure of hosting Simone Guanziroli and Daniele Pozzi from the Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri at our headquarters. The visit focused on our stratospheric technologies and their applications in science, security, and environmental monitoring.ia Space formal sales meeting for satellite components testing and tender collaboration on defence applications

We are currently working on two project proposal:

  • 1. Educational project for schools, powered by the Presidency, through our Da Vinci Caelum kit
  • Satellite communication experimentation for the Italian State, thanks to the agreement signing with Starlink to brought fast connectivity on our territory. The purpose is to use stratospheric balloons as a relay for satellite communication to improve its coverage and performance

  • Creation of a consortium with Welding and ADS International for the presentation of a project into the NATIONAL MILITARY RESEARCH PLAN (PNRM)

The Resilience Project outlined in the uploaded document aims to develop an Integrated Stratospheric Communication System for military use. The core of the project involves the use of stratospheric balloons equipped with phased array antennas for communications in the Ka, Ku, and X bands, with possible extensions to UHF and VHF. This system is presented as an alternative solution for military communication and surveillance, offering operational autonomy while reducing dependence on satellite infrastructures, which are vulnerable to various geopolitical and military risks. The project is inspired by the concept of resilience, drawing a parallel to the Roman legions' ability to adapt and reorganize under pressure. Similarly, the proposed communication system aims to ensure operational continuity even if satellites are compromised.

Key objectives:

  • Autonomous military communications: The balloons operate at altitudes of 20-30 km, offering immediate coverage and reducing the risks associated with exclusive reliance on satellites.
  • Knowledge generation: The project aims to distribute technological expertise among small enterprises, fostering resilient innovation even in challenging economic situations.
  • Strategic alternative: Stratospheric balloons provide a flexible, easily deployable, and cost-effective solution that can integrate with existing ground infrastructures.

The total estimated value of the Resilience Project (including Involve and other partners) ranges between €2,5 M and €3,5 M, depending on additional operational costs and security measures considered.

A first official presentation to the Defense Ministry is planned for October 31st.

MoUs:

In Progress:

  • Planetek Italia: leader supplier for Earth monitoring online platform using satellite images. We’ll integrate our remote sensing datas into their platform and we’ll present an open call tender to ESA to work on the post-processing of such datas.

Contracts:

In Progress:

  • MBDA: defence communication relay, negotiating a PoC to proceed with the contract signature

Important Note

Despite the numerous opportunities currently in closing and a robust pipeline, it is reasonable to highlight that the contracting processes are progressing more slowly due to the fact that the clients we are finalizing agreements with are large, structured companies with significant budgets and complex processes. Moreover, it is evident that the 2024 revenue plan, already delayed by the slower-than-expected investment round closure, may end up with lower-than-forecasted turnover. This is because it is plausible that some clients currently in the contracting phase may shift their deals to early 2025, thus contributing to next year's revenues. This is a realistic and honest estimate, especially considering that there are only two months left before the holiday break, which means companies of this scale may slow down their experimental projects and push them into the new year.
